Monthly Roundup: April 2026
What I Did
- I'm slowly getting back into journaling physically. Didn't realize how much I missed the feeling of writing out lists in a journal.
- Tried out plain-text accounting for a bit. It was fun to get into, but as with most tools created by programmers, there's very little mobile support for these tools. Also, it was doing a lot for the basic act of expense tracking and budgeting. I've gone back to Cashew, which is cross-platform and lets me sync my data with Google Drive.
What I Played

- Chants of Sennaar: My beloved. A lovely puzzle game that builds on the tower of Babel as a concept. There's a lot of running around to be done, and sometimes I got confused and frustrated. However, at no point did I think of dropping the game or just giving up and using a walkthrough to get through the game. I did use a walkthrough at some stages, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the game. 10/10, would definitely recommend.
- Citizen Sleeper
- News Tower: Newspaper management sim. I thought it was a cosy game but I'm starting to realize that management games are not in any way cosy for me. This is why I can't play Stardew Valley.
- The Roottrees Are Dead: Started great, ended with a whimper. It wasn't a bad game, but the premise of the game promised more than it eventually delivered.
What I Listened To
- CLARITY OF MIND, Omah Lay
- My faves: Coping Mechanism, Waist, Jah Jah, Julia
- Fancy Some More?, Pink Pantheress
- I didn't listen to the original album, Fancy That?, though I meant to get to it eventually. Then I heard the Stateside remix with Zara Larsson thanks to Alysa Liu, and so I went to listen to the remix album. I love it.
- My faves from the album: Stateside (Zara Larsson and Kylie Minogue remixes), Nice to Know You ft. Sugababes, Illegal, Stars ft. Yves (yes, LOONA's Yves), Noises ft. JT (I love this just because of the Who Want Smoke? sample)
- Afterbody, Jae Stephens
- Dracula, Tame Impala
- GO, BLACKPINK
- Here, Tomorrow, League of Legends
- I don't completely agree that music is only meant to be listened to live, but live music is a great experience. Asake's Red Bull Symphonic performance and Oxlade + TayC doing KU LO SA were fun.
What I Watched
- How Dare You: a c-drama in which two transmigrators plot to save themselves from their death flags. Haven't finished it yet but the romance isn't too grating. The first five episodes are free on YouTube.
- Improv Circle are a group of comedians doing improv shows in Nigeria. I'm partial to their Freeze games, and my favourite bit from them so far is the Stolen Bible musical.

- Pure Bullshit, or, A Westerner Who Knows Nothing About Africa's View on How Funerals Keep Africa Poor: read this, think about it, then discard it, because this person doesn't know anything about Africa. He mentions funeral insurance, then goes ahead to mention all of sub-Saharan Africa as having this insurance. Do people even use regular insurance in Nigeria, talk less of funeral insurance? This is another reminder that just because someone writes a long, long essay and blows plenty of grammar, doesn't mean this person is right. It's also very strange to me that this person says kinship societies keep their members poor, but doesn't mention East Asia, where clans were prevalent, and they grew richer by using their clans' resources and connections. - Did NASA’s Artemis II mission really do lunar science or go to the Moon for all humanity?: The answer is no. How does it improve the life of a villager in Benue? I'd genuinely like to know.
